Invisalign

At Byerly Family Dentistry we have a wonderful option for those looking to straighten their teeth in an inconspicuous way. We offer Invisalign clear aligner trays. Clear aligner trays straighten your teeth without the hassle and discomfort of traditional braces that utilize wires and brackets.

There are many impressive benefits that Invisalign clear aligners can provide.

Greater Confidence Throughout Treatment

Unlike traditional wire braces, these trays are virtually impossible to detect and can be worn comfortably both at school and in the professional arena. It is never too late to improve the structural arrangement of your teeth and clear aligners are making it possible to undergo these improvements at any stage of life, without feeling self-conscious or embarrassed.

Clear Aligners Take Less Time to Work

Surprisingly, clear aligners can also produce successful results within a small fraction of the average treatment time for traditional wire braces. In some cases, orthodontic treatment can take up to five years. Most patients with clear aligners, however, will have treatment plans that last just one to two years.

Clear Aligners Are Comfortable

Having your teeth straightened and correcting overbites, underbites and gaps can be an uncomfortable experience. This is especially true with wire braces that must be tightened regularly and are prone to getting caught on random items. Aligners have smooth surfaces that can’t get snagged on clothing, hair or other items that are brought near the mouth.

Moreover, these trays are entirely removable and can be easily lifted out of the mouth when the patient wants to enjoy a hot beverage or indulge in extremely crunchy, chewy or sticky foods. Putting the aligners back in the mouth is a breeze and this also makes it easier for people to perform diligent oral care and to effectively protect the well-being of the underlying tooth structure.

How Do Clear Aligners Work?

A series of custom-made aligner trays are used to gradually shift your teeth into place. Each tray is designed to move just one tooth or one section of teeth at a time. Once the tray’s work is complete (typically every two weeks), we move on to the next aligner tray.

Pain and Soreness

Because there are no brackets and wires, clear aligners do not cause a significant amount of pain or soreness. In some cases, patients feel a temporary discomfort (pressure) for the first few days after switching trays. That pressure may be uncomfortable but it is actually a good sign that the trays are doing their job!

Caring for Clear Aligners

Aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours per day. They should only be removed for cleaning, eating and drinking. To clean aligners, simply brush and rinse them each time you brush your teeth.
